BALLYHASS LAKES
Ballyhass lakes consist of two superb lakes stocked with rainbow and brown trout. The lakes are fed by springs through limestone rock and the water is crystal clear. There is a plentiful supply of natural feed that produces healthy active trout.Once introduced to the lakes, the fish feed only from the fly and insect life and there is evidence that they are breeding succesfully in these clear waters. The lakes have been stocked for over five years but have been only lightly fished so there are some very large rainbows and good size brown trout.A catch and release policy is in operation to preserve stocks. The main lake is fly only and can be fished from the banks but is best fished by boat. The water is between 8 metres and 11 metres deep in most places with very clear visibility. The main lake is twelve acres and the upper lake is two point five acres.
